Empress Theodora

Queen Empress Theodora is perhaps the most influential and powerful woman in the Roman Empire's history. She was the wife of Justinian I who was crowned Emperor of the Byzantine Empire in 527 AD. As his wife, she ruled by his side, as his partner, and her intelligence helped to advance the Empire. Empress Theodora reigned from 9 August, 527 to 28 June, 548. She died in Istanbul, Turkey, on June 28, 548 A.D.
